Rare Griffin, Smith and Hill Beige-ish color Etruscan Baseball jug stamped with the GSH mark on the bottom. Albeit, a little difficult to read. This is one of the signature pieces in the GSH works. It was first produced in the early 1880s and the pitcher is the earliest known pottery depiction of baseball in the U.S. The GSH Etruscan Baseball pitcher was made in many variations, and this one has baseball players on one side and soccer players on the other. The approx. dimensions are; 8 inches in height and approx. 4.25 inches in diameter at base and approx. 3.75 inches top diameter from spout to edge rim. It has crazing all over and does have several chips, most notable is on the rim in the spout area, and at least a couple on the sides that I can see. It also has at least 2 cracks I noticed on/near the bottom. While it is far from perfect, it still would make a nice addition to any collection given it's theme and history. This will have to be signed for upon delivery.
